Masonry Structure Performance During Earthquake (TMS-5102-94)

Masonry Structure Performance During Earthquake

This report, produced by a TMS team dispatched to the site immediately following the earthquake, details the performance of masonry structures, including reinforced masonry, unreinforced masonry, anchored veneer, parking garages, chimneys, and buildings under construction. Liberal use of photographs allows you to see the actual performance of many different buildings of every conceivable configuration and construction type. The actual and expected performance is then analyzed for each type of structure. Actions needed to improve the performance of masonry structures are pointed out in detail and research needs are identified. All photos and illustrations in the report are available as slides.
